Why choose Ogi?

eero mesh routers included

Every plan comes with either eero 6 or eero 7 mesh hardware depending on your speed tier. They also bundle eero Secure at no extra cost, which is a helpful addition since most providers treat mesh systems and network security as paid upgrades.

30-day risk-free trial

You can test the connection for the first month and cancel without penalty if you are unhappy. This is very rare in the UK broadband market and provides a strong safety net for new customers.

Independent South Wales network

They operate their own infrastructure rather than reselling Openreach or CityFibre lines. This means they bring genuine new competition and dedicated local capacity to the Welsh towns they serve.

UK-based customer care

If you need help with your connection, you will speak to a support team based directly in Wales. This localised approach is a refreshing change from the mixed or offshore support setups used by many major internet service providers.

Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Cardiff, Ogi is Wales’s largest independent broadband network. They operate their own FTTP infrastructure, backed by a £200 million investment from Infracapital and a £45 million package from the Cardiff Capital Region, they operate their own FTTP infrastructure. They currently reach around 100,000 homes and businesses from Pembrokeshire to Monmouthshire, serving over 20,000 customers.

Rather than reselling access on the Openreach network, they build their own full fibre lines. Every package comes with an eero mesh router and eero Secure built in as standard, which most providers charge extra for. They also offer a 30-day risk-free trial and run a UK-based customer care team directly from Wales.

Ogi is strictly a regional provider, focusing entirely on South Wales communities. You will not find them operating on a national scale. If you live outside their specific footprint across the southern Welsh counties, you will need to look at other networks for your home broadband.

Ogi package types

Ogi 250

This 250Mbps tier provides comfortable headroom for households of three or more people. It handles multiple devices, high-definition streaming, gaming, and working from home simultaneously. Lighter households with just one or two people might find they are paying for more speed than they actually need here.

Ogi 500

Sitting at the top of the mid-range band, this 500Mbps option suits busy homes where several users hit the connection at once. It provides plenty of bandwidth for multiple streamers, large game downloads, and remote workers operating on the same network without slowdowns.

Ogi 1Gig

This 900Mbps service is built for specific high-demand use cases rather than typical household needs. It is a strong fit for remote workers using cloud collaboration tools or households with several wired gaming setups. The bundled eero mesh hardware genuinely helps deliver these speeds wirelessly around the home.

Ogi sits firmly in the mid-range of the market. While their starting speeds are much faster than budget Openreach packages, their entry price is comparable to what BT and EE charge for far slower part-fibre connections. Compared to Sky on CityFibre, their entry-level cost per megabit is slightly higher. All deals come on a fixed 24-month term with free setup and no upfront fees.

The Ogi 250 package currently starts at £25.00 a month on a 24-month term. They apply scheduled price rises during the contract, with both dates and exact amounts disclosed in pounds and pence at sign-up.

You do not get reward cards or cashback incentives here. The main financial safety net is their 30-day risk-free trial, which lets you test the service and walk away without penalty if it falls short.

Ogi pros and cons

Pros

  • Trustpilot rating of 4.4 backed by a local customer care team based in Wales, so support is genuinely close to home
  • eero mesh routers are included on every plan with eero Secure bundled in, giving you whole home coverage and built in online protection
  • A 30 day risk free trial lets you try the service and cancel without penalty if it does not work for you
  • 100% full fibre delivered over Ogi's own independently built network, focused on connecting Welsh communities
  • Free setup across the range with no upfront costs to get connected

Cons

  • Only available in parts of Wales where Ogi has built its own network, so most of the UK cannot access it
  • The monthly price changes several times over the contract as the introductory discount ends and further annual rises kick in
  • Just three packages starting at 250Mbps, so there is no budget friendly low speed option for lighter households

How Ogi compares

Ogi vs BT. Both providers offer top speeds of 900Mbps on a 24-month minimum term. The Ogi Ogi 250 starts at £25.00 a month for 250Mbps, whereas BT charges a similar entry price for a much slower 36Mbps connection. BT operates nationally on Openreach with reward card incentives and annual March price rises, while the Welsh altnet is strictly regional with scheduled price rises during the contract.

Ogi vs Sky. Sky reaches up to 5Gbps at the top end, which is noticeably faster than the 900Mbps limit here. At entry level, Sky is cheaper for 75Mbps or 150Mbps speeds, while Ogi asks £25.00 a month for 250Mbps. Sky operates nationwide and participates in the Ofcom Automatic Compensation Scheme, whereas the Welsh provider relies on its own regional network and scheduled price increases.

Ogi vs EE. EE provides speeds up to 1.6Gbps nationwide on Openreach, compared to the regional 900Mbps maximum from Ogi. The Ogi Ogi 250 costs £25.00 a month for 250Mbps, while EE sets a similar starting price for a basic 36Mbps service. EE includes the Smart Hub 7 and gift card incentives, whereas the Welsh network includes eero mesh equipment as standard alongside a 30-day risk-free trial.
