VOXI vs Lebara: two SIMs on Vodafone's masts

VOXI and Lebara both run on Vodafone's network, but they're built for different people. VOXI is one of Vodafone's own brands, and its plans are built around data for social media, music and video that doesn't come out of your allowance. Lebara is a separately owned brand that uses Vodafone's masts, with plans built around calling abroad, including international minutes and roaming in India as well as Europe. Which suits you depends mostly on whether your phone is for scrolling or for calling home.

How do VOXI and Lebara compare at a glance?

What is each network built around?

VOXI's headline feature is Unlimited Social Media, included on every plan. It covers Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Pinterest and Messenger, so using those apps in the UK doesn't eat your data. Plans from £12 add unlimited music streaming, and plans from £15 add unlimited video, according to VOXI's plan terms.

There are limits worth knowing. Voice and video calls inside those apps aren't included, and neither is general browsing, email or maps. You also need some general data left for the unlimited apps to keep working. VOXI does let you tether, and the social apps stay unlimited on the tethered device.

Lebara's plans lean the other way. Every 30-day plan on its homepage includes international minutes, 100 or 500 depending on the plan, when we checked on 23 September 2026. Its roaming covers India as well as the EU. Of the networks we compare, only Lyca Mobile also includes India.

If most of your data goes on social apps and streaming, VOXI's model can stretch a small allowance a long way. If you call family or friends abroad, Lebara's built-in international minutes can save you a separate calling add-on.

Which is cheaper, VOXI or Lebara?

For unlimited data, Lebara was cheaper when we checked on 23 September 2026. Its 30-day unlimited plan was £25 a month, and its 12-month version was £22.50. VOXI's unlimited plan was £30 a month.

At the smaller end, VOXI was running a time-limited offer. Its £10 plan came with 60GB until 30 September 2026, and VOXI says it then reverts to 20GB. Do you have to commit?

VOXI doesn't ask you to. Every plan is 30-day rolling, and VOXI's own wording is "No contract, cancel any time". Payment comes out every 30 days, like a subscription.

Lebara sells 30-day rolling plans too, which you can "change or cancel anytime", according to its homepage. It also sells a 12-month plan at 10% less than the 30-day price. Leaving that plan early costs the monthly price for each month left, reduced by VAT and any costs Lebara no longer has, under clause 14.2 of its terms. On the £22.50 unlimited plan with six months to go, that's up to £112.50 before those avoided costs come off. Lebara's customer service works out the exact figure.

Can the price go up?

Neither has a scheduled rise in our feed. Lebara states it plainly on its homepage: "No yearly price rises". Its terms back that up: if Lebara changes its charges, the change "will not apply to existing Products or Services you have purchased from us", under clause 15.2. VOXI's plans are 30-day rolling, so any change would come with notice and you could leave without a fee. Our price rise guide explains the rules if either changes its prices.

Will either run a credit check?

Lebara's own comparison table, dated 9 September 2026, lists a credit check as "Not required" for its SIM plans. VOXI describes its plans as a simple online subscription: you create an account, add a payment method, and pay every 30 days. The credit checks on VOXI's site relate to phones bought on PayPal Credit.

Which is better for travel?

Lebara includes EU roaming up to 30GB of data, and covers India as well. VOXI charges for roaming in the EU: you buy a European Roaming Pass, which costs £2.60 a day, with multi-day passes costing less per day. VOXI doesn't charge in Ireland, Iceland or Norway.

For a week in Spain, that's nothing extra on Lebara and £18.20 on VOXI's daily rate. For regular travellers, and especially for anyone visiting India, Lebara is the simpler fit. Our EU roaming guide compares every network's charges.

Is coverage the same on VOXI and Lebara?

Mostly, but not entirely. Both use Vodafone's masts. Ofcom's January 2026 figures for Vodafone show 4G reaching 97.4% of premises indoors and 86.7% indoors in rural areas, with 5G reaching 77.3% of premises outdoors.

VOXI gets something extra. Since the Vodafone and Three merger, the two networks have been sharing masts, and Vodafone names VOXI among the brands that benefit. That sharing was switched on at 10,000 sites by April 2026. Lebara isn't on Vodafone's list, so we don't assume it gets the same access.

In most places the signal will be the same. In an area where Three is strong and Vodafone is weak, VOXI may pick up a signal that Lebara can't. Check your postcode on our mobile coverage map.

How does customer service compare?

VOXI's contact page offers an AI chatbot, and it doesn't list a phone number. Lebara offers phone support, and in Ofcom's 2024 customer service survey its average call wait was 15 seconds, against an industry average of 1 minute 52 seconds.

That survey scored Lebara at 91% for overall satisfaction and 95% for value for money, against averages of 88% and 83%. VOXI isn't included in the survey or in Ofcom's quarterly complaints figures, which only cover larger providers. Lebara isn't in the quarterly figures either.

What extras come with each?

VOXI runs VOXI Drop, which it calls its loyalty programme, with rewards for customers. It also pays referral gift cards through its Friends with Benefits scheme once you and your friend have both stayed two months. And it runs VOXI For Now, a social tariff for people on certain benefits.

Lebara runs a Refer and Earn scheme, and offers EU and India roaming and international minutes as standard rather than as extras. Its terms also allow tethering, so you can share your data with a laptop or tablet.

Why you might choose VOXI

How do you switch between VOXI and Lebara?
