Talkmobile is one of Vodafone's own brands, and it runs on the same network. Its homepage promises a "Steady signal on Vodafone", and both now reach Three's masts too, wherever the merged networks share them. So the signal is the same. What changes is the price, whether it rises, credit checks, roaming, and the extras Vodafone adds for its higher monthly cost.

Live rows show the deals in our feed at the last refresh, not every plan a network sells. EU roaming was checked against each network’s own pages on 28 August 2026, eSIM on 26 August 2026, and ownership and exit terms on 23 September 2026. Vodafone and Three masts are shared only at sites where sharing has been switched on: 10,000 of them by April 2026, according to Vodafone.
Is Talkmobile cheaper than Vodafone?
Yes, by a wide margin in our feed. When we checked on 23 September 2026, Talkmobile's unlimited data plan cost £16 a month on a 30-day plan. Vodafone's cheapest unlimited plan cost £23 a month on a 24-month contract, rising to £25.50 in April 2027 and £28 in April 2028. Its 30-day unlimited plan cost £47.
Over two years, Vodafone's £23 deal comes to £607. At today's price, 24 months of Talkmobile's rolling plan would come to £384. For smaller allowances, Talkmobile's plans started at £4.95 a month.
One pattern stands out in Talkmobile's own range. Its 30-day plans came with more data than its 12-month plans at the same price: £11.95 bought 180GB on a 30-day plan against 120GB on 12 months. You don't pay extra for flexibility here. Our data allowance guide helps you pick a size.
Can the price go up?
Vodafone's rise is written into every new pay monthly plan. Its SIM page says: "The monthly cost will increase each year on 1 April by £2.50 for Pay monthly plans with Airtime/Data". On a two-year contract that's £5 a month more by the second April.
None of Talkmobile's 16 deals in our feed carries a scheduled rise. On a 30-day plan, any change would come with notice and you could leave without a fee. Our price rise guide explains the rules on both.
Will either run a credit check?
Talkmobile doesn't for SIM plans: "No credit check is required for Talkmobile SIM Only deals". Vodafone does on pay monthly plans, and it's candid about it: "you might fail our credit check, even if a credit agency has given you a high score". Vodafone's Pay as you go Plus SIM needs no credit check, according to its SIM page.
Which is better for travel?
Talkmobile includes roaming in 47 European destinations at no extra cost, with a 5GB fair use limit. Vodafone charges £2.75 a day on standard plans, or £16 for an eight-day pass, and includes roaming on its Xtra plans with a 25GB fair use limit.
A week in Spain costs nothing extra on Talkmobile if you stay under 5GB, and £16 with Vodafone's pass. If you use a lot of data abroad, Vodafone's Xtra plans give more room. Our EU roaming guide compares every network.
What does Vodafone add for the higher price?
Quite a lot, if you'd use it. Vodafone's unlimited plans come in tiers: its plain Unlimited plan caps downloads at 100Mbps, while its Xtra, Plus and Premier plans have "no speed restrictions". Its entertainment plans add Disney+ Standard or Prime, plus 500 international minutes to Europe.
VeryMe Rewards gives Vodafone customers weekly treats, offers and discounts. Vodafone Together gives discounts when you put two or more eligible plans on one account, including Vodafone broadband. And Vodafone has shops across the country.
Talkmobile keeps things simpler. Wi-Fi Calling is included on all its SIM plans, tethering is allowed, and it runs a refer-a-friend scheme. When you run out of data, it stops rather than charging you: you buy a booster to carry on.
How does customer service compare?
Both offer phone support. Talkmobile's line is 5888 from a Talkmobile phone, open 8am to 8pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 5pm on Sundays. Its webchat runs until 10pm on weekdays. Vodafone has phone support, chat and shops.
Ofcom recorded 1 complaint per 100,000 Vodafone customers from January to March 2026, against an industry average of 2. Ofcom's 2024 customer service survey scored Vodafone at 84% for overall satisfaction, with an average call wait of 29 seconds. Ofcom stopped reporting Talkmobile separately after 2016, so there's no current Ofcom figure for it.
Is coverage the same on Talkmobile and Vodafone?
Yes. Both use Vodafone's masts, and Talkmobile says customers "automatically access both Vodafone and Three networks for more coverage, at no extra cost". Vodafone names both brands among those that benefit from the shared masts, which covered 10,000 sites by April 2026.
Ofcom's January 2026 figures for Vodafone's network show 4G reaching 97.4% of premises indoors and 86.7% indoors in rural areas, with 5G at 77.3% outdoors. Check your postcode on our mobile coverage map.
