Broadband deals in Hulme & University

Ofcom's latest data ranks the area 58 of 59 in the city. Of its 4,485 premises, 97.1% can get superfast speeds and only 6 fall below 10Mbps, so almost nobody is offline. The shortfall is concentrated in the 22.3% of addresses capped between 30 and 300Mbps, one of the biggest middle bands in Manchester, typical of halls, towers and converted blocks where full-speed networks need building-by-building agreements.

Step across the area's edges and the numbers jump: Hulme Park & St George's reads 94.5% and Moss Side West 97.1%, while University North & Whitworth Street, deeper into the campus zone, drops to 68.6%. The market itself is not thin. 167 deals from 18 providers were live at our sampled postcode, including cable up to 2 Gbps from Virgin Media, plus full fibre, part-fibre and both hub types.

The practical rule here: never assume, always check. Two buildings on the same street can have different networks installed. Students and sharers should compare deals on total cost over the tenancy, and a 5G hub is a legitimate first choice where the building's fixed options are capped.
