How Good is Broadband in Tottenham?

Tottenham's broadband comes from three networks: Virgin Media's cable on most streets, Openreach's full fibre on about two thirds, and independent networks, Community Fibre among them, on about half.

These figures cover the Tottenham constituency, the strip between the River Lea and Wood Green, rather than all of Haringey. Full fibre has reached 80% of its addresses, below the UK average, though gigabit speeds reach far more through the cable.

In Bruce Grove and Tottenham Green, most streets have Virgin Media's older cable and full fibre from Openreach, with Community Fibre on many of them. West Green and St Ann's have the same mix.

White Hart Lane and Northumberland Park have the cable on most streets too, but the regeneration land around the stadium and the industrial estates by the Lea have few connected addresses. The newest blocks beside the river have fewer providers to choose from in our results.

Gigabit availability here is 95%, well ahead of full fibre. The explanation is Virgin Media's older cable, which reaches 77% of the constituency and delivers gigabit speeds without fibre to the door. Small full fibre pockets from Virgin Media sit in the newer blocks at Tottenham Hale and South Tottenham.

Openreach's full fibre covers 64% of addresses. Of the 18 providers in our Tottenham results, most sell over Openreach's lines.

Copper-only ADSL survives at about one in 180 premises.
